Dr. Marty Isbell to operate on NHL player

Marty Isbell, MD, is set to perform knee surgery on Andrei Svechnikov, a forward for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League, on March 16.

Mr. Svechnikov will undergo reconstructive surgery on his right anterior cruciate ligament, according to a news release from the team.

Dr. Isbell is an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Raleigh (N.C.) Orthopaedic. He has clinical interests in shoulder and knee surgeries, including ACL reconstruction, and has served as head team orthopedic surgeon for the Hurricanes since 2006.

Mr. Svechnikov is expected to make a full recovery but will miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs, according to team President and general manager Don Waddell.
