Dr. Mark Vitale to receive Dr. Melville G. Magida Award: 4 notes

Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital’s Mark Vitale, MD, was awarded the Dr. Melville G. Magida Award, the Greenwich Sentinel reports.

Here’s what you should know.

 

1. The award is presented annually to a physician who has a “sense of genuine care and concern” for patients.

 

2. Dr. Vitale is an orthopedic surgeon and the director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Center at Orthopaedic and Neurology Specialists.

 

3. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Vitale is also a noted researcher. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers and has authored several textbooks.

 

4. He earned his medical degree from Columbia University. He completed a residency at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, and a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
