Dr. Gittins of Westerville, Ohio-based OrthoNeuro will use the Avail system to teach robotic hip and knee reconstruction worldwide, according to a March 8 announcement. Avail’s system allows teaching and collaboration during live surgeries, and Dr. Gittins will perform the procedures at New Albany (Ohio) Surgery Center.
“A venture like this is very exciting for Dr. Gittins and OrthoNeuro,” said OrthoNeuro President, Larry Todd Jr., DO. “Telemedicine is here to stay and to be able to provide real-time instruction during a procedure is beneficial to the patient, the surgeon and everyone involved.”
