Here are three things to know:
1. Dr. Dean was one of the first female hand surgeons in Alaska and the first to perform a toe-to-thumb reconstruction.
2. Dr. Dean received her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. She underwent hand surgery fellowship training at The Hand Center of San Antonio in Texas and is board-certified in orthopedic hand surgery.
3. She served in multiple capacities for the University of Alaska Anchorage, was a former department chair of orthopedics at Providence Alaska, past president of the Anchorage Medical Society as well as secretary and treasurer of the Alaska Orthopedic Society and co-chairman of the Alaska State Medical Review & Advisory Committee.
