Dr. Ken Saer dies at 94

Orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist Ken Saer, MD, passed away at age 94.

Dr. Saer served as the first team physician and orthopedist for the New Orleans Saints, joining the franchise at its inception in 1967, according to a Nov. 11 news release. 

In addition to serving as team physician for the Saints, Dr. Saer was a member of the AFL-NFL Professional Football Trainers and Physicians Association and the Southern Orthopedic Specialists.

Dr. Saer was the Saints’ team physician for 24 years, the release said.
