Keith Meister, MD, is set to perform elbow surgery on Manuel Rodríguez, a pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, on Aug. 8.
The surgery is expected to repair Mr. Rodríguez’s flexor tendon in his right elbow. In addition, Dr. Meister will evaluate Mr. Rodríguez’s ulnar collateral ligament during the procedure to determine if Tommy John surgery is necessary, according to a July 26 news release from mlb.com.
Mr. Rodríguez was placed on the injured list with a right forearm strain June 11. The surgery will cause him to miss the rest of the 2025 MLB season and a large portion of the 2026 season.
Dr. Meister is the director at TMI Sports Medicine in Arlington, Texas, and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
