Keith Meister, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Andrew Saalfrank, a pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to a Feb. 9 report from Arizona Republic.

The left shoulder procedure will cause Mr. Saalfrank to miss the entirety of the upcoming 2026 MLB season, the team’s general manager said.

Mr. Saalfrank missed the 2021 season after he underwent Tommy John surgery.

Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
