Joshua Gary, MD, will be chair of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation at The University of Texas Medical Branch John Sealy School of Medicine in Galveston starting Aug. 3, according to an April 27 news release.
Dr. Gary is an orthopedic trauma surgeon and has more than a decade of experience in the field. He joins UTMB after working as a professor and chief of orthopedic trauma at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
As chair he will provide strategic leadership across the department’s research, clinical programs and education.
In his career Dr. Gary has been a leader in multicenter, federally funded orthopaedic trauma research. He served as site principal investigator and national leader within the Major Extremity Trauma and Research Consortium. Dr. Gary has more than 140 peer-reviewed publications.
He earned his medical degree and completed his residency at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
