Dr. Joseph Tauro named future AANA president

Joseph Tauro, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and clinical director at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Freehold, N.J., has been named second vice president of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. 

The appointment puts Dr. Tauro in the line of succession for the AANA presidency, which he is slated to take over in 2027, according to a May 28 news release. 

Dr. Tauro specializes in arthroscopic surgery, including minimally invasive knee and shoulder reconstruction. 

He has been a member of AANA since 1992, beginning as an associate instructor. He is credited as the first in the world to publish a peer-reviewed article on arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. 

AANA currently represents over 6,000 orthopedic surgeons from 80 countries.
