Dr. John Furia to open retail store in Pennsylvania

Orthopedic surgeon John Furia , MD, plans to open a Dollar General store in Montandon, Pa., The Daily Item reports.

Three things to know:

1. Dr. Furia purchased land for the planned 9,100-square-foot store, which he hopes will break ground at the end of July. He also owns an American bistro in Lewisburg, Pa.

2. Dr. Furia is a sports medicine specialist and former CEO of Evangelical Ambulatory Surgical Center in Lewisburg.

3. He has practiced with Lewisburg-based Sun Orthopedics and Sports Medicine since 1995.
