Dr. Felix Savoie named new president of Louisiana Orthopaedic Association: 5 things to know

The Louisiana Orthopaedic Association appointed Felix “Buddy” H. Savoie, MD, its new president.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Savoie is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine in New Orleans, La.

 

2. The chief of sports medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Savoie also serves as a professor of clinical orthopedics at the medical school.

 

3. He specializes in shoulder, elbow and wrist surgery as well as sports medicine.

 

4. After earning his medical degree from New Orleans-based Louisiana State University School of Medicine, Dr. Savoie completed an internship and residency at Jackson-based University of Mississippi Medical Center.

 

5. Dr. Savoie completed his training with three fellowships — an A-O fellowship in Basel, Switzerland; a hand and microvascular fellowship at Milwaukee-based Medical College of Wisconsin and Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic; and an arthroscopy fellowship at Richmond, Va.-based Tuckahoe Orthopaedic Associates.
