Orthopedic surgeon Farzin Kabaei, MD, has added the bikini incision direct anterior approach as part of his hip replacement program, according to a Feb. 5 news release.
The technique uses an incision along the natural skin crease of the hip for a discreet and cosmetically favorable scar. The hip replacement approach allows the surgeon to access the joint through a natural interval between muscles instead of cutting through them or deteching muscle from bone.
Not every patient is a candidate for the bikini incision direct anterior approach. Candidacy includes factors related to anatomy, body type, overall health and the nature of a patient’s hip condition.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
