Dr. Cato Laurencin to be honored by J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society

Cato Laurencin, MD, PhD, will receive the Founders Award from the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society, according to a Jan. 23 feature from the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Laurencin will be the first recipient of the Augustus A. White III Founders Award, and the honor recognizes “exceptional contributions to advancing culturally sensitive musculoskeletal care while promoting diversity” in orthopedics.

Dr. Laurencin is an orthopedic professor and CEO of The Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering. 

“Dr. August White has been an absolute trailblazer, who has broken ceilings and opened doors in his 60-year career in surgery,” Dr. Laurencin said. “He continues to make tremendous contributions. He is an inspirational figure to me and many others throughout the world. I am honored to receive this award named for him.”
