Dr. Laurencin, the Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the UConn School of Medicine in Farmington, Conn., will be inducted into the EURASC in October, the university said June 10. This is his 16th membership in a national or international scientific academy.
He has been recognized for several accomplishments in tissue regeneration, biomaterials science, nanotechnology and regenerative engineering. Regenerative engineering is a field he pioneered, and he is considered the world’s foremost engineer-physician-scientist, the university said.
Dr. Laurencin earned The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Diversity Award in March.
