Dr. C. Thomas Hopkins Jr. to chair the Georgia Board of Regents: 4 things to know

C. Thomas Hopkins Jr., MD, will serve as chairman of the Georgia Board of Regents, the Albany Herald reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Dr. Hopkins was first appointed to the Board of Regents in 2010. He represents the Georgia’s Third Congressional District.

2. Dr. Hopkins is an orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in sports medicine. He practices at Griffin, Ga.-based OrthoAtlanta.

3. He began his career after earning his medical degree at Atlanta’s Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Emory before completing two fellowships in Atlanta and Toronto.

4. Dr. Hopkins is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served as a flight and an orthopedic surgeon.
