Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. McCardel was inducted into Sparrow’s Physicians Hall of Fame at a recognition dinner at the University Club of Lansing-based Michigan State University.
2. Dr. McCardel is chief of Sparrow’s orthopedic surgery section.
3. He co-founded the Great Lakes Health Connect health information exchange.
4. Sparrow has recognized over 950 physicians caring for patients in the mid-Michigan region.
Dr. McCardel said, “My hope would be that physicians coming after me will be engaged in the community at large, using their unique position to do more than just practice here.”
