Bert Mandelbaum, MD, performed knee surgery on Jonathan Rodríguez, a player for the Portland Timbers, July 8 in Los Angeles.
The procedure was a cartilage restoration surgery in Mr. Rodríguez’s right knee, according to a July 8 news release from the team.
Mr. Rodríguez will miss the remainder of the 2025 season to recover from the surgery.
Dr. Mandelbaum is an orthopedic surgeon, sports medicine specialist and founder of Santa Monica (Calif.) Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group. He also serves as a team physician for the United States Soccer Federation.
