Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Rowe is succeeding Patrick Smith, MD. During Dr. Rowe’s induction ceremony, Dr. Smith said, “In our more than 60 years of existence, POS has never been led by a woman orthopedic surgeon, even though we have had many qualified and able female board members. Angela is shattering our own glass ceiling and is leading the way to a new future for POS.”
2. She practices at Altoona, Pa.-based University Orthopedics Center.
3. The only female practicing surgeon in Blair County, Pa., Dr. Rowe was also the first female in her orthopedic residency program at Downers Grove, Ill.-based Midwestern University.
4. Additionally, Dr. Rowe is the first female orthopedic surgeon to be a board of directors’ member for the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
5. She is pursuing her MBA from Chester, Pa.-based Widener University.
