Connecticut Orthopaedic Society names Dr. Mariam Hakim-Zargar president: 4 highlights

Mariam Hakim-Zargar, MD, was named president of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society, the Litchfield County Times reports.

1. Dr. Hakim has been an active member of the COS board since 2009 and has served as secretary, treasurer and vice president of the society.

 

2. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Hakim practices at her private practice in Torrington, Conn.

 

3. After earning her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in K.Y., Dr. Hakim completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

 

4. Dr. Hakim is the first woman to serve as president of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society.
