Dr. Whitlock is an orthopedic surgeon-scientist with years of experience in hip preservation research, according to a Jan. 23 news release from the health system.
He is one of the few specialists in the U.S. skilled at performing periacetabular osteotomy, a complex surgery to treat hip dysplasia, the release said. He also specializes in the treatment of slipped capital femoral epiphysis, hip impingement, Perthes disease, large osteochondral defects of the hip using osteochondral allograft tissue and pediatric orthopedic trauma.
Dr. Whitlock joins Cedars-Sinai from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he was co-director of the hip preservation program, associate professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and associate professor of clinical-affiliate biomedical engineering at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science.
