The study will follow 1,200 patients worldwide, including 120 from Ontario, in a two-year clinical trial. It aims to assess if hip fracture patients have better outcomes when they are operated on within six hours of diagnosis as compared to 24 hours to 48 hours after diagnosis which is the current standard.
The crowdfunding will be used to recruit 40 patients for the trial, according to the report.
