California practice adds ACL tear procedure

Summit Surgery Center in Santa Barbara, Calif., debuted the bridge-enhanced ACL restoration, Santa Barbara News-Press reported Jan. 19.

Dr. Richard Ryu performed the first BEAR procedure on a 17-year-old soccer player. The procedure preserves a patient’s native ACL instead of replacing it with a graft.

Summit Surgery Center is one of the first centers on the West Coast to add the BEAR procedure.
