The patents cover elements of Caira’s radar surgical tracking, according to a May 1 press release. The company also successfully filed for protection in territories outside of the U.S.

“This technology provides the first sub-millimeter-accurate radar tracking system for joint replacement that solves the line-of-sight issue inherent in current optical-navigated systems,” Morteza Meftah, MD, associate professor of orthopedic surgery at New York City-based NYU Langone Medical Center and Caira’s co-founder, said in the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
