Best hospital for orthopedics in each of 5 biggest US cities

The five most-populated U.S. cities account for close to 19 million people, and hospitals in all five cities — New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Phoenix — appear on U.S. News & World Report‘s “Best Hospitals for Orthopedics” 2023-24 list at least once in the top 31 hospitals.

Hospitals in New York City and Los Angeles, the two largest cities in the U.S., took the top two spots. The three next-largest cities also appeared in order relative to their total population. 

Here is the best hospital for orthopedics in each of the five biggest U.S. cities, according to the U.S. News report.

New York City: No. 1 Hospital for Special Surgery

Los Angeles: No. 2 Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

Chicago: No 8. Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center

Houston: No. 16 Houston Methodist Hospital

Phoenix: No. 31 Mayo Clinic-Phoenix
