Berkshire Medical Center earns Joint Commission gold seal for total hip, knee

Pittsfield, Mass.-based Berkshire Medical Center earned The Joint Commission’s gold seal certification for total hip and knee replacement, The Berkshire Eagle said Jan. 18.

The certification, awarded in partnership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, focuses on presurgical consultation to the intraoperative admission; rehabilitation; and follow-up visits with the surgeon.

Berkshire Medical Center is a private, nonprofit 298-bed teaching hospital. It is affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School in Worcester.
