Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute receives $1.4M+ to establish endowed chair in memory of Dr. Kathryn Cramer

The charitable remainder trust of the late orthopedic surgeon Kathryn Cramer, MD, has given the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit a gift of more than $1.4 million to establish an endowed chair.

The Kathryn E. Cramer, M.D., Endowed Chair for Cancer Research aims to support cancer research. Dr. Kramer succumbed to breast cancer in 2005. Her oncologist, Philip A. Philip, MD, will be honored as the first Kathryn E. Cramer, M.D., Endowed Chair.

 

Dr. Kramer was an orthopedic surgeon focusing on pediatric trauma. She had practiced at Detroit Receiving Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
