The endowment, named the Jose Milton Foundation Endowed Chair in Orthopedics, will support the work of the orthopedic center’s founder and chief medical officer, John William Uribe, MD.

The Baptist Health Orthopedic Institute Sports Medicine clinic waiting room will also bear Mr. Milton’s name as a thank you for the donation.

Dr. Uribe is an orthopedic surgeon and team physician for the Miami Dolphins football team. He will use funds from the endowed chair to research minimally invasive resurfacing techniques of the knee and shoulder, as well as ligament and tendon restoration.

The Jose Milton Foundation was founded in 2012 by Florida architect Jose Milton, a Cuban immigrant.
