Dr. Emblom officially took over the role Aug. 31, when the Auburn football team played its first game of the season.
Dr. Emblom will still serve the Hoover (Ala.) High School football team, a role he has held for several years.
He specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee at Birmingham, Ala.-based Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, the statement said.
