Milwaukee-based real estate firm Hammes is redeveloping a vacant department store at Brookwood Village Mall in Birmingham, Ala., into a 61,000-square-foot orthopedic clinic.
Andrews Sports Medicine, based in Birmingham, will anchor the space, which is set to open in June 2027, according to a Dec. 17 news release.
Construction began in December with structural upgrades and the addition of more than 600 parking spaces. A second phase may include an additional medical office building.
“For decades, Andrews Sports Medicine has set the national standard in orthopedic excellence, helping athletes and patients recover and return to the activities they love,” Lisa Warren, CEO of Andrews Sports Medicine, said in the release. “This new facility will further that mission through even greater access and a highly visible, centralized location.”
