Amita Health plans $43M La Grange hospital upgrade to expand orthopedic, heart services: 4 insights

Amita Health announced its plans for a $43 million orthopedic and heart and vascular services expansion at its La Grange, Ill., hospital, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Here are four insights:

 

1. The plan includes a two-level, 30,000 square feet addition to the current hospital.

 

2. Orthopedic services will focus on hip and knee replacements and feature six operating rooms and an inpatient unit.

 

3. The heart and vascular area will host cardiac testing and rehabilitation services, as well as a clinic to provide ongoing outpatient care for patients with congestive heart failure.

 

4. Amita Health is in the process of seeking approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board for a certificate of the need.
