The first clinical use cases with Advita Ortho’s next-generation knee replacement platform have been completed in Japan.
The platform uses Activit-E polyethylene technology in the Truliant knee system combined with Advita GPS surgical navigation and Newton balancing intelligence, according to a June 30 news release from Advita Ortho.
Hiroshi Watanabe, MD, PhD, performed the first procedures at the Tokorozawa Hakushokai Hospital in Japan.
Surgeons receive real-time feedback during knee surgery to assess alignment and soft-tissue balance before the final implant is placed.
The company plans to expand the platform to other global markets following the first use cases.
“Every patient presents a unique combination of anatomy, soft-tissue characteristics and functional expectations,” Dr. Watanabe said in the release. “Having real-time information about alignment and balance throughout the procedure helps me make more informed decisions and tailor the surgery to each patient.”
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
