Medical device company Advita Ortho has received a U.S. patent for an AI-enabled surgical planning framework.

The algorithm helps surgeons prioritize the variables in joint replacement procedures, such as implant alignment, sizing and soft tissue balance, rather than balancing each equally, according to a Feb. 11 news release from Advita Ortho.

Over time, the system learns from previous cases to refine recommendations and better align with surgeons’ individual philosophies.

The AI framework aims to enhance consistency, personalization and confidence of joint replacement procedures, the release said.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
