Abanza taps executive vice president

Orthopedic and arthroscopic soft tissue repair innovator Abanza has added John Rizzo as its executive vice president for U.S. operations.

Mr. Rizzo has experience building successful teams and distribution channels for both start-ups and late-stage companies. 

He previously served as senior vice president of Embody, playing a role in the medical device company’s acquisition by Zimmer Biomet, according to a Jan. 22 press release. 

Before Embody, he led sales at Knee Creations, which was also successfully acquired by Zimmer Biomet. 

Abanza is preparing for the launch of new products led by its flagship product, the Washercap soft tissue fixation system. Abanza is also looking to expand its U.S. team, bolstering the company’s operational capacity.
