AAOS names new leadership

Annunziato (Ned) Amendola, MD, is the new president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Amendola is chief of sports medicine at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and he served as a vice president for the AAOS in the last two years, according to a March 12 news release. 

He has nearly 30 years of leadership experience in orthopedics. With the AAOS he has helped shape educational programming, served on several board project teams and has been deputy editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Wilford Gibson, MD, was named first vice president, and Michael Parks, MD, was named second vice president
