The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons released its inaugural “Orthopaedic Industry Report,” a market intelligence resource built to help healthcare leaders assess the trends shaping orthopedic care delivery.
The report pulls together claims data, demographic trends, registry insights, AAOS member intelligence, advocacy perspectives and the academy’s clinical practice guidelines, according to a July 9 news release. The report is meant to offer a broader view of the forces shaping the orthopedic market, not to serve as clinical guidance.
Five findings stand out:
- Demand for musculoskeletal care is rising, driven by an aging population.
- Financial pressure continues from reimbursement and rising costs.
- Care keeps shifting toward outpatient settings, including ASCs.
- Workforce challenges are affecting care delivery.
- Technology adoption is increasing across orthopedic practices.
AAOS will update the report annually and positioned it as part of a broader market intelligence portfolio for orthopedic leaders.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
