Researchers conducted a systematic review of 12 studies with 1,292,689 participants. They identified eight risk factors with at least moderate evidence levels, classifying them as either inpatient or post-discharge risk factors.
Inpatient fall risk factors:
- Postoperative complications or comorbidities
- Revision surgery
Post-discharge fall risk factors:
- Medications
- Psychiatric diseases
- Living alone
- Prior TKA
- Prior fall history
- Being female
