Medtech company Zimmer Biomet recently predicted that 40% to 60% of all cases in orthopedics will move to ASCs within the next three to five years.
In 2024, three key ASC management groups strengthened their foothold in the orthopedic space, according to VMG Health’s “ASCs in 2024: A Year in Review,” report:
Surgery Partners. In 2024, Surgery Partners added five new ASCs and two orthopedic ASCs in Chicago through a partnership with Duly Health. It also added over 230 physicians across orthopedics, spine and cardiology. In its third quarter, the company reached $770.4 million in net revenue.
Tenet Healthcare/United Surgical Partners International. In 2024, USPI added over 20 ASCs, including a partnership with Synergy Orthopedics that established the largest musculoskeletal ASC in San Diego. USPI also launched a strategic partnership with the Florida Orthopedic Institute, which gave the MSO three orthopedic ASCs.
Spire Orthopedic Partners. In June 2024, Spire formed a partnership with Ortho Rhode Island and its affiliated ASC.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
