Denver Broncos hire Saints’ head orthopedic surgeon

Karim Meijer, MD, head orthopedic surgeon for the New Orleans Saints, is leaving his current role to provide care for the Denver Broncos.

As a member of the Broncos team, he will rejoin former Saints head coach Sean Payton and longtime Saints athletic trainer Beau Lowery, according to a Jan. 20 release from Saints Wire. 

Dr. Meijer previously played football as a defensive back for the University of Texas Longhorns in Austin before attending medical school. 

He was also a surgeon with Elmwood, La.-based Oschner Health Network, specializing in elbow, knee and shoulder issues and regenerative medicine.
