Dr. Hostin and his practice were named alongside over 180 other defendants who were allegedly involved in fraudulent billing and kickbacks.
The suit was brought by the American Transit Insurance Company, which claims that Dr. Hostin performed unnecessary surgeries and submitted fraudulent claims in exchange for kickbacks.
Dr. Hostin’s patients allegedly underwent arthroscopic surgeries following minor car accidents despite their injuries being too minimal to justify the procedures.
Dr. Hostin’s legal team has called the accusations “meritless,” according to the report. They also accused American Transit of abusing the legal system to intimidate healthcare providers.
Dr. Hostin is married to Hollywood author and television host Sunny Hostin.
