Former New Hampshire orthopedic surgeon sentenced for patient abuse

Former orthopedic surgeon Thomas Marks, MD, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a female patient and was sentenced to up to a year in prison, Valley News reported Jan. 4.

Dr. Marks pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor count in December, the report said. He also pleaded guilty to a felony count of first degree assault, but that sentence is fully suspended.

He agreed to no longer practice medicine since the charges were filed in January 2023.

Dr. Marks previously worked with an orthopedic practice in Windham, N.H., and joined Claremont, N.H.-based Valley Regional Hospital in 2022.
