The procedure was to repair cartilage damage in Mr. Jiménez’s left knee, according to a Nov. 4 news release.

The damage in Mr. Jiménez’s knee was attributed to normal wear and tear over the course of his career.

The team expects Mr. Jiménez will miss eight to 12 months, which could potentially cause him to miss the entire 2025 MLB season, the release said.

Dr. Cole is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and chair of the department of orthopedics at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago. He is also the team physician for the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and co-team physician for the Chicago White Sox, one of the city’s two MLB franchises.
