Dr. Dan Cooper operates on Oakland A’s player

Dan Cooper, MD, performed arthroscopic knee surgery on Esteury Ruiz, an outfielder for the Oakland Athletics, at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas.

Dr. Cooper performed a patella tendon debridement and a chondroplasty procedure on Mr. Ruiz’s right knee, according to a Sept. 24 news release.

Mr. Ruiz will undergo post-surgical rehabilitation during the offseason to recover by the start of the 2025 MLB season. 

Dr. Cooper is a sports medicine surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder injuries. He currently serves as the head team physician for the Dallas Cowboys and was previously the head team physician for the Dallas Stars.
