Five notes:
1. The average starting salaries for orthopedic surgeons was the highest among 20 specialities with $686,000. Pediatricians earned the lowest starting salary on average with $244,000.
2. Typical orthopedic surgeon starting salaries range from $500,000 on the low end and $815,000 on the higher end. The lower and average ends of salaries have increased compared to past years while the high end decreased slightly from 2022/2023.
3. The average starting salary for orthopedic surgeons grew 8.37% year-over-year. Dermatology (13.8%), neurology (8.19%) and gynecology (5.99%) also saw increases in average starting pay.
4. The average annual physician billing for orthopedic surgery is $9.8 million, the report said. This trails general surgery, which had the highest average annual billing of $11.7 million.
5. Orthopedic surgery is among the top 10 specialties in demand based on the number of search engagements.
