Services provided by the health system will include athletic training, physical therapy, physician care, behavioral health services, sports performance services, medical scheduling and insurance processing, according to a July 17 news release from Cleveland Clinic.
Cleveland Clinic currently employs more than 2,300 Kent State graduates, the release said.
Lutul Farrow, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist and executive director of Cleveland Clinic Sports Medicine, will serve as head team physician and healthcare administrator for Kent State.
Five additional sports medicine specialists will treat students and Kent athletes. Student-athletes will also have access to medical clinic hours throughout the year and students, student-athletes, faculty and employees will have year-round access to an on-site sports physical therapist.
The Kent State board approved the partnership in May and Cleveland Clinic began providing medical services July 1.
