Dr. Keith Meister to operate on Washington Nationals pitcher

Keith Meister, MD, is set to perform elbow surgery on Washington Nationals pitcher Josiah Gray on July 24 in Arlington, Texas.

The extent of the injury will be determined during the procedure. Based on the severity of the injury, an internal brace procedure, Tommy John surgery or a hybrid procedure could be performed, according to a July 19 news release. 

Mr. Gray has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. 

Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers.
