The Long Branch, N.J., hospital underwent an onsite survey as part of the certification process and has held the title for 13 years.
“The surveyor was impressed with the program support from both physician and hospital leadership as well as the great collaboration and teamwork between the various OR departments and the inpatient surgical unit,” Jason Cohen, MD, the hospital’s chair of orthopedic surgery, said in the release. “They also praised us for following the newest researched protocols for enhanced joint replacement recovery, and our great quality indicators.”
David Chalnick, MD, the hospital’s director of joint replacement, said the surveyor was also impressed with the program’s community involvement.
Monmouth Medical Center has nine orthopedic physicians and 10 spine physicians.
