The program, which will be the Carilion Clinic’s 30th graduate medical education program, received approval from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in January.

The residency’s first class will begin in July, according to a March 25 news release.

Carilion Clinic said four residents will be chosen for the five-year program each year, with the program reaching capacity with 20 residents by 2028.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
