The procedure was to address cartilage damage and repair the labrum in Mr. McLain’s left shoulder, according to a March 27 report from MLB.com.
Mr. McLain suffered the injury to his shoulder during a spring training workout.
There is not a definitive timeline for Mr. McLain’s return, but Reds president of baseball operations hopes that he can come back at some point during the 2024 MLB season, according to MLB.com.
