The extent of the injury to Mr. Giolito’s ulnar collateral ligament is not fully known, so the operation could either require a brace procedure or full Tommy John surgery, according to a March 11 news release from mlb.com.
Mr. Giolito experienced discomfort in his right elbow following a game on March 1.
