Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg (Va.) has partnered with healthcare tech provider Upfront Healthcare since 2022 to deploy a unique platform for joint replacement cases, and the health system is expanding the program due to its success.
Upfront's outreach program allows patients access to total joint replacement information before, during and after procedures, reducing health systems' labor costs associated with patient education.
Riverside Health System has now scaled the program to its Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Va., as well, according to a Feb. 7 press release.
Since the original collaboration, 502 patients have received orthopedic care outreach through text messages and email with a 68% conversion rate, late surgery cancellations have shrunk by 7.7 percentage points, labor costs have been reduced by $7,700 annually, patient engagement is up and pre-surgery labor hours have decreased.
RDHW performs more than 350 joint replacements annually.
